Howdy

Hey everyone,

I am indeed still kicking. I'm heading back to school from "Spring break" this afternoon. Spring break for me basically consisted of working on my thesis for most of the time. Only 3 weeks till my final thesis review. Anyhoo, gotta run.

Good luck to everyone.

Souffle..

From Sabrinia,

"A woman happily in love, she burns the souffle. A woman unhappily in love, she forgets to turn on the oven."  ~ Baron St. Fontanel from the movie "Sabrina" (1954)

Howdy..

Hey everyone.

Yup, I'm here. I guess this has been the longest time between updates for me yet. Best get at it then.

School
The semester went just fine. I did very well in all my classes again. I took 5 classes. Soil mechanics and foundations. Structural Theory. Environmental Design, Revit (a computer program) and studio.

On the whole, the semester was pretty uneventful. I worked with the same 2 guys I worked with last semester for studio. We turned out a really neat project. The studio title was "Chapel of Light" for which we focus on designing a chapel with light specifically in mind and how it effects the space. I'll post some pictures.

This semester I taught Environmental Technology II, or in plain English, buildings systems excluding lighting and acoustics. I still do enjoy teaching and got good feedback from my students.

Moving on...

I'm still currently looking for a summer job. I thought I'd likely have one down in champaign, but that one didn't pan out so I'm currently fishing in the Chicago area and maybe one in New York. Hopefully I'd find one soon. We'll see.

Thats about all I can think of for right now. I hope you all aren't too surprised that I actually updated.

Ciao mes amigo's . (if thats spelled wrong....)

Peter's alive..

Hi,

I finishing up my semester here. Its been an interesting first semester at Gradschool. I've had a studio professor who's unlike anything I've ever had, (some good, some bad.) I've been TA'ing a lighting and acoustics course. I'll graded a stack of notebooks 5 feet tall (no joke) yesterday and will be finishing up the rest of my grading for the course today.

The weather down here for the past few days has been Freezing rain. Makes walking and driving a bit interesting. But the trees sure do look pretty coated in ice.

Some good stuff did happen with studio. We got nominated for the school's Chicago prize, for which the judging is this Wednesday. Our work is also getting displayed in Chicago this upcoming June and we will be published as well. So the barge load of work that we were forced to do at least has its perks.

I head home after this weekend some time. Don't have an exactly firm date, due to tests and what not. Over all, its been a rewarding semester. I've learned allot and matured more. I hope that you all are well.

Peter

Summer is here...

Well summer is upon me.

I'm graduated from school on May 13th. I've passed all my classes so I should be getting confirmation of my degree in early June. It feels odd, but good to be graduated.

I start work tomorrow at a firm in Barrington, IL. The firm specializes in high end residential, with a smattering of commercial (offices and commercial headquarters). I'm looking forward to starting. They originally didn't think they would know if they needed me or not until Friday, but the head then called me this morning and said that they did need me. I report at 10 A.M. To be honest, I can't wait because they seem to love architecture and do such high quality work.

We (mom and I) are putting in some new garden beds. This morning we rented a sod cutter to remove grass where the beds were to be place. Let me tell you, man-handling a 350 lb. wildly vibrating and shaking machine does wear you out pretty quickly. Tiring, but I think I'll live.

I leave on Saturday for a week and will return on June 1st.

Anyway, a friend pointedly mentioned that I hadn't updated yet so I thought I'd oblige. Cya'll around.

Peter
